2:48 p.m. Sept 6, Downtown

A group of two males and one female walked into a shop at 3rd and Pike and started wandering around inside. An employee observed the older of the men standing near the radar/scanner detector section of the shop. Those items are all secured and can only be accessed by employees. On their way out of the store, the woman stood directly in front of one of the radar detectors while the two men stood by her side, blocking the employee's view, according to the police report. They then left the store.

The employee went over and noticed an item was missing. He then went outside to get the stolen product back. He saw the group walking north on 3rd, and one of them had the product in his hand. The employee confronted them and said if they gave it back, he would not call police. The group took off running and the employee gave chase. They got into a white SUV in an alley and tried to drive southbound. However, that way was blocked, and the employee stood directly behind the SUV and yelled to give the product back. The SUV then went in reverse and struck the employee, knocking him to the ground. They fled the scene.

The victim told police he was not injured and did not need medical attention, though he was shaken up. Images of the suspects were captured on the in-store video.

8:48 p.m. Sept 6, International District

A robber allegedly walked into a Shell station at 5th and S Dearborn and made away with a whole lot of junk food, kicking the owner on the way out. The suspect walked into the store, walked up to the counter, then grabbed three boxes of Twizzlers, two boxes of Good & Plenty and a bag of Ruffles. When the gas station employee tried to stop him, the robber kicked him and ran out the door.

6:08 p.m., Sept 4, Pioneer Square

A Japanese exchange student with limited English was robbed in Pioneer Square, according to the police report. He was walking near 2nd and James when a man started following him around, continually asking him for money. When the man determined the student was alone, he dragged him into an alley and took his wallet. He took a $20 bill out and gave the wallet back. A worker in a shop saw the man pulling on the victim's clothing as they walked by in front of his shop. When he heard yelling, he saw the suspect leave the victim in an alley. The shopkeeper brought the victim into his shop and called police.
