Erica is at the Rainier Beach Community Center covering the first of Mayor Mike McGinn's two budget speeches today. (He's giving the second one at 2 pm at city hall to his pals on the council.)

This first one was for the people. And he had some bad news. From Erica's text:

294 positions cut. 214 of these are currently filled and will result in layoffs. Of those, 64 are executives, managers, or strategic advisers.
