I standby my (old man) contention that Rolling Stone is one of the only magazines—in this digital age—that still works. (The New Yorker and Wired are the other two that seem to have a sense of purpose.)

And last night, RS proved it again. What's on everybody's mind?

What's up with Obama? And what's up with the Tea Party?

Well, RS has two blockbuster stories on both (including a sitdown at the White House with the president).

I hunkered down with both stories last night at the best clean, well-lighted place in Seattle right now, Capitol Hill's Vermillion art gallery and bar on 11th, off Pike—a remote vaction-island-of-your-own tucked in along the jumping juke box row of sparkling night-spot incandescence just outside.
