Expect Fireworks at Bellevue City Council Meeting Tonight
Seattle Transit Blog reports that the Bellevue City Council is considering hiring consultants to do another study to advance its preferred B7 light rail line.
Erica has reported on this a lot. But basically, the B7 line runs parallel to 405 rather than to Sound Transit's South Bellevue park and ride and the higher ridership numbers. The B7 line also and environmental hurdles—building over streams and on wet lands.
Sound Transit's preferred alternative would serve the the park and ride and run parallel to the Surrey Downs neighborhood (which doesn't want the line) and connect well the preferred downtown tunnel option.
The Bellevue city council already spent abotu $150,000 studying Sound Transit's preferred route vs. the council's and the study sided with ST.
We'll have to see what goes down at tonight's meeting, but STB is reporting (and we're hearing) that the council is looking at authorizing another study to challenge ST's preferred route.
