A man allegedly knocked a sunglasses salesman out at Westlake Park after making lewd humping gestures at a different mobile food vendor, according to the police report. The alleged attack occurred August 18 around 11:20 a.m., and the park is typically packed during lunch on a Wednesday.

One witness was selling tea in the park and offered the man a sample. She said the man then "began making lewd sexual hip thrusting motions at her from several feet away." This, clearly, made her uncomfortable, and she alerted the victim, who was selling sunglasses in a cart near hers. The man made the gestures again, and the two of them told him to "Please leave."

The humper then went into a rage, according to the report, and attacked the sunglasses salesman. He choked and punched him several times, knocking him unconscious. He fell backwards into his sunglasses cart and onto the pavement. In all, he was out 5-10 seconds.

The victim was treated by medics on the site, but declined to go to the hospital. Police arrested the suspect and arranged for an interpreter to give him his Miranda rights in sign language because the suspect is deaf.
