Teen Wounded in Shooting At Rainier and Henderson

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee August 17, 2010

One teen was wounded by gunfire at Rainier and Henderson last night.

From SPD:

On August 16th, at approximately 9:40 PM, South Precinct officer responded to a call of multiple shots fired around Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street.  The suspect was described by witnesses as a black male, in his 20′s , approximately 5′-6″, wearing a red shirt and black shorts.  He was armed with a revolver.  The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived.  Officers did locate shell casings near the scene.  A teenage male victim was located along with two of his friends in the 9200 Block of Rainier Avenue South.  That victim sustained a minor bullet graze to his back.  He was treated by the Seattle Fire Department at the scene and released.  The suspect remains at large.

A Seattlecrime.com reader, who texted us last night, said they heard seven shots fired.

An SPD spokesman would not dismiss the possibility that that the shooting was gang-related.
