Sore Loser Law
An FYI for Clint Didier (who's holding a press release this morning): Washington state has a "sore loser" law, which means someone who lost in the primary cannot do a write-in campaign for the same seat in the general.
I'm not saying Didier is going to announce a write-in campaign. I'm just saying he doesn't have that option.
Dave Ammons, spokesman for the Secretary of State's office, which sent out the ruling this morning, explained:
No person may file as a write-in candidate where:
(1) At a general election, the person attempting to file either filed as a write-in candidate for the same office at the preceding primary or the person's name appeared on the ballot for the same office at the preceding primary
I'm not saying Didier is going to announce a write-in campaign. I'm just saying he doesn't have that option.
Dave Ammons, spokesman for the Secretary of State's office, which sent out the ruling this morning, explained:
We’ve heard speculation, and wanted to point out that such a campaign is not permitted under state law. He may have not have even thought about it, and some people’s imaginations went there when he didn’t immediately endorse Rossi and called a news conference for today.
