The Morning Blotter: Man Beaten At SoDo Graffiti Wall

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee July 15, 2010

One man was badly beaten in attack in front of a well-known legal graffiti wall in SoDo earlier this week, according to a police report.

At about 9:30am on July 11th, two men were hanging out and drinking by the graffiti wall at 4th and Lander—right across from the Seattle school district's headquarters—when two other men approached them and "began antagonizing them and calling them out to fight."

When the victims wouldn't fight the men, the report says one of the suspects grabbed a 2x4 and attacked one of the victims. The other victim tried to flee, but one of the suspects also chased him down and tackled him to the ground. Both suspects then fled.

Police found both suspects near the scene and arrested one of them. Officers interviewed and released the second suspect, who is listed in the report as a "bystander."

Medics treated one of the victims at the scene for bump on his head, bruised ribs, and "soreness to his abdomen."
