Sound Transit Bellevue Meeting. Expect Fireworks.

By Erica C. Barnett July 6, 2010

Sound Transit is holding an open house in Bellevue tomorrow to give residents and businesses more information about the various potential alignments for East Link light rail through Bellevue. The Sound Transit board supports a route that runs on 112th Avenue between Downtown and Bellevue Way; meanwhile, a majority of the Bellevue City Council supports an alternative (known as B7) that would run up I-405, bypassing the South Bellevue Park and Ride.

The battle between the two routes has been incredibly contentious, dividing the  council between its four member, pro-B7 majority and its pro-112th minority, which includes Sound Transit board member Claudia Balducci. Recently, as Seattle Transit Blog reported, B7 supporters have resorted to "ideological nonsense," including these crazy-ass flyers depicting Sound Transit as Stalin.

Should be fun.
