The folks behind Hempfest say they won't fight the city to add an extra day to the festival.
Hempfest wanted to hold a three-day event this summer instead of the usual two days, but the City denied a permit for the extra time. Organizers filed an appeal on June 24, but on Monday said they were abandoning their effort for the third day, saying they were unlikley to succeed.
The festival is planned for Aug. 21-22 in Myrtle Edwards Park. Organizers had said they wanted another day for public safety reasons, citing the large numbers of people who attend their event.
