Masked Man Stabs Woman During Attempted Robbery on Aurora

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee July 8, 2010

SPD robbery detectives are working to identify a masked man who stabbed a woman during a failed purse snatching on Aurora last week.

Just before 8:00am on July 3rd, the woman was walking down Aurora, on her way to get breakfast, a police report says.

When the woman neared a pedestrian overpass on 102nd and Aurora, a man wearing a ski mask approached her and tried to rip her purse from her shoulder.

When the woman fought back, the man called her a "bitch" and stabbed her in the left arm with a "large folding knife."

The man let go of the purse and fled down an alley.

Medics transported the woman to a hospital. The report does not indicate the seriousness of her injuries, or provide any other identifying details about the suspect.
