The federal Courthouse in Seattle was briefly locked down Thursday afternoon at the time of the Colton Harris-Moore hearing as the fire department responded to a report of white powder in the mail room.
Spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick said a hazmat team in protective gear determined it was nontoxic and cleared the scene in an hour-and-a-half.
Seattle police spokeswoman Renee Witt says a mail room employee reported a suspicious package with a white substance shortly after 2 p.m. and the timing with the Barefoot Bandit case appeared to be a coincidence.
