The Morning Blotter: Two Men Beaten In Home Invasion In the University District

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee June 4, 2010

Two men were left bloodied and bruised following a home invasion in the University District last week.

According to police, the two roommates were in their apartment on 52nd and Brooklyn watching TV around 1:00 on May 28th when they heard a knock at the door

When one roommate got up to open the door, a man outside kicked the door in, striking the tenant in the face.

The robber walked into the apartment and punched the tenant in the face, a police report says, then grabbed him by the throat, slammed him into a wall, and dragged him into his bedroom.

Inside the room, the suspect hit the tenant several more times and told him to stay in his room.

Meanwhile, a second robber entered the apartment and attacked the other roommate. The report says the second robber knocked the man to the ground and stomped on his chest, knocking him unconscious.

The suspects then stole the victims' cellphones, at least one wallet, two backpacks, and a laptop, and fled.

The roommates then ran out of the building and called police.

It appears neither suspect was wearing a mask during the incident as one of the roommates told officers he could identify the suspects if he saw them again.

The report does not include a description of the suspects.
