So We're Still Talking About The Jaywalking Thing
So you folks still seem to be interested in this jaywalker vs. cop story, so here's the latest.
The BBC picked up the story. Pip pip cor blimey bobbies eh wot!
Old reports by police watchdogs on problems with jaywalking stops are relevant again.
And the dude who took the video tried to get $1,000 for it. Psh.
I get why people are upset about this, but I think this incident is being put into a context it shouldn't. I don't think this compares to the Mexican Piss incident at all. If this had happened six months ago, this wouldn't have made it on TV. When put within the context of that other thing, yeah, I totally get why it's news. But on its own?
I know these incidents don't happen in a vacuum—watching a white cop punch a black teenager is an ugly thing—but I don't think this is the right case to hold up as an example of things that are wrong in the police department.
So that's that story.
