Rossi Leaps Ahead of GOP Rivals After One Week of Fundraising
US senatorial candidate Dino Rossi released a statement today saying he's raised $600,000 in his first week of campaigning—$200,000 of it from online contributions.
That immediately puts Rossi well ahead of the other GOP hopefuls who've been campaigning for months, including former NFL player-turned-Tea Party candidate Clint Didier (he's raised $351,000) and ultraconservative state Sen. Don Benton (R-17), who has raised $120,000.
But Rossi has a long way to go: The incumbent, U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) has raised $9.8 million with $5.9 million on hand.
