On Other Blogs Today (Tuesday)
1. Between the PI's Strange Bedfellows blog and the Seattle Times' Politics Northwest Politics Northwest blog, we were able to keep up with all the initiative campaigns that turned in their signatures today: 1107 the initiative to repeal candy and soda tax increases; 1100, one of the alcohol leagalization initiatives; and 1082, which would allow private workers' comp to compete with the state-run system. Proponents of Initiative 1098, the high earners income tax proposal, also indicated they'd be ready to go by July 1.
2. In a recent edition of On Other Blogs Today, I linked an article from Crosscut by Bill Richards that indicated the future of SeattlePI.com might be in peril because of a business deal by its owner, the Hearst Corp.
Today, Heidi Dietrich posted some good news on the Seattle Post Glob blog: SeattlePI.com has hired Amy Rolph, a business reporter for The Daily Herald in Everett, to replace Monica Guzman (who ran SeattlePI.com's Big Blog and is leaving for a mysterious news startup called Intersect).
Replacing Guzman, according to Dietrich, shows Hearst's continued commitment to what's left of The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
3. At the Seattle Times Politics Northwest blog, King County reporter Keith Ervin follows up Erica's story from last week about King County Council Member Pete von Reichbauer's curious campaign finances.
4. And Goldy at HorsesAss continues to pound away at his Peter Goldmark vs. Rob McKenna story—with mixed results.
