McKenna Team Wins National Award for R-71 Brief
Attorneys in State AG Rob McKenna's office—Solicitor General Marnie Hart and Deputy Solicitors General Bill Collins and Anne Egeler received the National Association of Attorneys General Best Brief award for Doe v. Reed, the case that's currently pending before the U.S. Supreme Court, in which McKenna argued that the names of the people who signed R-71, the effort to repeal domestic partner rights, must be available to the public.
The case has not been decided yet, although, two weeks ago, gay rights advocates who worked on the case, gave us a heads up that the decision was imminent.
In a press statement, AG McKenna said:
“I’m proud that these fine attorneys have been recognized for their incredible ability to pen persuasive arguments in cases before the United States Supreme Court,” McKenna said. “Hart, Collins and Egeler are truly the state’s dream team of appellate attorneys.”
