Human Services Director Announced
Mayor Mike McGinn announced that he's appointing Dannette Smith from Fairburn, GA, as his new director of the Seattle Human Services Department. Since August 2007, Smith has been director of the Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services, part of the State of Georgia Department of Human Services.
As PubliCola first reported, the mayor's office initially narrowed down the list of finalists to replace acting Human Services Department director Kip Tokuda to three. The mayor's office declined to say who the other two finalists were.
McGinn also made official the appointment, reported here this afternoon, of deep-bore tunnel opponent and onetime city council candidate Tim Killian as his liaison to the city council. And he announced he is appointing Lynda Petersen as the city's Chief Service Officer, a grant-funded position created to help coordinate the mayor's Youth and Family Initiative.
