Correction/Clarification

By Josh Feit June 23, 2010

Earlier this week, we reported that Clint Didier's spokeswoman Kathryn Serkes—who told us she's working for free—would eventually have to report her hours as an in-kind contribution, and once the market value exceeded $2,400, Didier would have to start paying her or it would be an impermissable donation.

The FEC contacted us this morning to say they had given us incorrect info yesterday. "Volunteer" hours do not count in the same way as traditional "in-kinds"—even if they're from a professional like Serkes who is donating her professional skills.

Partisan Republican blog Red County called the FEC about our original story and got to this error first. (I've been out at a panel all morning.)

I regret the error.
