Today in Doomed Votes

By Erica C. Barnett May 24, 2010

Non-King County Council edition: The city council plans to vote this afternoon on council member Tim Burgess' aggressive-solicitation law, which was vetoed by Mayor Mike McGinn. The council needs six votes to override McGinn's veto; at most, they have five. The city charter says that the council "shall" vote to override a veto, whether they have to votes to do so or not, which is why the council has to hold a symbolic vote on a doomed veto override.
