The Morning Blotter: Free Advice
If you rob someone in a drug-deal-gone-bad downtown and get caught by the cops, don't try to racist your way out of it. It doesn't work.
At about 12:15pm on May 17th, gang unit detectives Ed Chan and Ben Huey were on patrol near 1st and Pine when another vehicle blew past them going the wrong way down a one-way street.
The detectives then saw the vehicle pull into an alley, and saw two white males sprinting to the vehicle, being chased by a black male, who was later identified as the victim.
When police stopped all of the men and the driver of the vehicle, the black male victim pointed to one of the white males and told police "He robbed me with a knife!"
When police grabbed the suspect to pat him down, he busted out this gem:"Why are you doing this? I'm white, he's a nigger! You should believe me you're white also!"
Police found a 3-inch knife on the suspect—who, the report says, reeked of "intoxicants,"—and found two pipes and a small bag of pot in the car.
Police talked to the suspect's companions, who told officers they had gone downtown with their friend, the suspect, who had wandered off. He later called them from the parking lot of Deja Vu on 1st Avenue, the report says, the suspect tried to sell the victim drugs.
When the suspect's friends picked him and the victim up outside the strip club, things got tense. The drug deal apparently fell through, and while all of the men were together in a car, the victim told the suspect "he wanted his cocaine or $10 dollars for 'inconveniencing' him."
The suspect then pulled a knife on the victim and told him to get out of the car, the report says.
After that, things got all crazy. The suspect and his companions fled the vehicle when they thought the victim was pulling out his own weapon, but the driver made it back to the car, took off, and then tried to come back for his friends. That's when police arrived on scene.
Officers booked the racist robbery suspect into the King County Jail.
