By scott May 6, 2010

We just learned that police are investigating a possible shooting at 113th and Meridian.

Police have blocked off the street. According to scanner traffic, the victim was shot 3 times.

Will update this as we learn more.

Update:  SPD's Homicide unit is on the way (they're called out for big shootings even if the victim doesn't die). Medics at the scene have asked for someone to make a blood run. It sounds like the wounds may may be to the butt and wrist.

Update x2: According to SPD spokesperson Renee Witt, the suspect is a black male in his 20s. The victim has "serious injuries"

Update x3: The official SPD statement:

On 5/6/10, at approximately 5:10 p.m., officers responded to N 115 St and Meridian Av N. to a report of shots fired.

Officers responded to the area and located a male on the ground near the corner of N. 113st and Meridian Av N. The victim told officers that he had been shot in the left arm by a male, who claimed that the victim owed him money. After shooting the victim, the suspect ran off in an unknown location.

Seattle Fire responded and treated the 24-year-old male at the scene. He was later tranported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

While interviewing the victim, officers recovered a small baggy of drugs from his person. At this time, it is unknown what percipated the shooting.
