On Other Blogs Today
We're not sure what to call this yet. Blog Gulp? But as the political season heats up, we're going to be pointing you toward noteworthy posts, scoops, original reporting, (and also stuff that needs to be fact checked or given some context) at some of the other dedicated political blogs around the state.
1. The Spokesman Review's Spin Control blog linked a horrible animated music video by (and we looked this up because the post didn't say) Rightchange.com—a 527 that does independent expenditures against Democrats and Obama.
Rahm Emanuel is sarcastically credited with producing the vid, which bashes Obama's health care reform because it has "fun visuals."
The video is a terrible cover of Dire Straits' "Money for Nothing" and features crude caricatures of Obama, Biden and Nancy Pelosi performing the song. The video warns of what's to come now that the country's health care system has been reformed: Salary caps for private citizens and Pelosi smashing the constitution with her gavel.
2. Public Radio's Austin Jenkins posted a juicy tidbit today at his blog The Washington Ledge: In a conversation with Gregoire about the Obama Solicitor General rumors, she told Jenkins she'd actually been contacted by members of the legal community asking her if they could recommend her for Justice John Paul Stevens Supreme Court spot.
3. Tacoma City Council members hedged their proposal to boycott travel, goods and services from Arizona (the Seattle City Council voted passed an Arizona boycott resolution yesterday.)
Council members have removed the word "boycott" from the proposal. The Tacoma News Tribune has the the scoop at their blog, Spin Control.
One could certainly point out (the PI's blog Strange Bedfellow's laid out the reason yesterday) why Seattle should follow suit.
