Man Assaulted, Robbed By Aggressive Panhandler at "Worst Jack in the Box in the Country"

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee May 17, 2010

If you're looking to get punched in the face, here's a tip: the SoDo Jack in the Box—affectionately dubbed the "Worst Jack in the Box in the Country" by its corporate overlords—is a great place to meet creepazoids.

At about 2:15pm on May 11th, a man was leaving the Jack in the Box at 4th and Holgate when another man approached him and asked him for some food, according to a police report.

When the victim refused to give the man any food, the suspect asked him for a dollar. Again, the victim refused to meet the man's demands, and told him he only had a $5 bill.

That's when the suspect threw a tantrum.

According to the report, the suspect "became very angry and started calling [the victim] names."

When the victim flashed a $5 bill at the man to prove he wasn't carrying any smaller bills, the suspect  punched him in the head and grabbed the money. When the victim tried to get his money back, the suspect "kicked him in the rear end" and fled, the report says.

The victim followed the suspect up 4th Avenue until the man turned around and told the victim to stop following him or he would 'stick' him."

The victim backed off and called police from 4th Ave and Royal Brougham Way. Police were unable to find the suspect.
