Art Thieves!
One Seattle art dealer is in trouble again for his alleged connection to an art theft ring.
The PI.com paints a picture of the alleged crime:
FBI agents investigating a long-running art theft ring have arrested three, including a Seattle art dealer convicted in a different theft three years ago.
Kurt Lidtke, former owner of Kurt Lidtke Galleries in Seattle, was arrested Tuesday morning in Bozeman, Mont., according to a Department of Justice statement. The move coincided with the arrests of Jerry and Georgia Christy, of Granite Falls, Wash., who were arrested at their home and were expected in U.S. District Court at Seattle later in the day.
According to the statement, Lidtke and the Christys -- who apparently also are known as Nick and Monica Natti -- conspired to steal art from Seattle-area homes.
The stolen art was then sold to an undercover FBI agent based in Oregon, according to the allegation.
During the investigation, FBI agents recovered paintings and a sculpture stolen during a November 2009 burglary in the city. Among the works stolen were paintings by Northwest artists Morris Graves and Mark Tobey, as well as a Rembrandt etching.
