Your Daily Brain Scrub

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee April 7, 2010

We've been getting a number of emails of late asking about how we deal with reading/writing about human misery on a daily basis, like this one from Seattlecrime reader David:

It would be interesting to hear your personal response to the daily continual record of violence, cruelty, stupidity and mayhem. It must be draining unless you can develop that harder shell.

True. It can be very draining. But I've been doing this long enough to have developed a healthy level of stoicism, but every so often a case comes along that makes me drink for three days straight kinda miserable.

To counteract your (and my) crime-induced blues, I'm going to be posting something delightful on the site (possibly pictures of kittens, or a clip from Milo and Otis) to scrub your brain every afternoon.

I don't want to hear any bitching and moaning about how this isn't crime news, or how it's an old video, or whatever. Just enjoy it.
