Woman Robbed For $2500 At Downtown ATM

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee April 9, 2010

A woman was robbed in broad daylight while trying to make a deposit at an ATM in downtown Seattle last week.

According to a police report, the woman went to a bank at 2nd and Cherry at about 11:00am on April 3rd. to deposit $2500 in rent money into her landlord's account.

The woman tried to enter the bank but it was apparently closed. When she turned around, the report says, a "black male wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt with "Philly" on the front, black pants and black shoes" grabbed the woman's wallet, pushed her down to the ground, and fled.

Police were unable to locate the man. The woman was not seriously injured.

What we need now is an ordinance to keep robbers away from ATMs!
