The Most Gorgeous Woman Alive for the 2nd Year Running

By Chris Kissel April 8, 2010

Tonight:

Given the bedbug epidemic that’s been plaguing Seattle for the past three years, it seems like a good time to learn about that family of beasts we humans love to poison, crush, and generally freak out about: The insect.

Hugh Raffles is the Chair of the Department of Anthropology at the New School for Social Research, and he knows all about bugs. So much, in fact, that he’s written a book—called Insectopedia—about how they affect human society. Turns out they control us more than you might think. Find out how at Raffles’ Town Hall lecture, part of the Seattle Science lecture series.

Tonight at Town Hall (1119 8th Avenue), 7:30 to 9 pm. Tickets $5.

Tomorrow:

Little Dragon, a Swedish outfit with the kind of dreary-string infused soul-jazz thump you'd expect from a bunch of Nordiques, are coming to the Nectar Lounge‎ on Friday. Singer Yukimi Nagano, who is the most gorgeous woman alive for the second year running, has a voice like a soul butterfly.

Tomorrow at 9 pm at Nectar (412 N. 36th Street). Tickets are $12.

Tomorrow's Full Calendar:

"HONK! Fest West 2010" is a weekend-long gathering of 20 "street bands" who fill the streets with "protest marches, funeral dirges, swinging gospel, Balkan folk, and tin pan jazz" for five short hours. Each day of the fest takes place in a different Seattle neighborhood; tomorrow's is in Fremont.

Friday at N. 35th Street at Phinney Avenue N, from 5 to 10 pm. Free.

The City's Advisory Council on Aging and Disabilities, which is charged with representing aging and disability issues to the general public, is meeting tomorrow. Friday at Seattle Municipal Tower, 40th Floor Room 4050 (700 5th Avenue), from noon to 2 pm.
