Seattle police are examining surveillance footage taken at a Greenwood convenience store last Sunday to try to determine whether the men responsible for a nearly fatal shooting in North Seattle earlier that evening also committed a sexual assault near the store.

Shortly before 1:00am on April 12th, police received reports of gunfire in the 1100 block of N 115st St. At the scene, officers found a man in late 20s lying in the street, bleeding from four gunshot wounds to his stomach.

Police spoke with the man's girlfriend, who had witnessed the shooting. The woman told officers she and her boyfriend were walking north on Aurora when a dark sedan passed them and pulled up on the street ahead of them. Two men got out of the car, walked up to the couple, and then shot the victim "for no apparent reason," the woman told police.

The gunman—described as a "black male wearing dark clothing" accompanied by a white male, possibly wearing an olive jacket and olive pants—drove off southbound on Aurora following the shooting. Officers recovered three 9mm bullet casings, a bullet fragment, a gold ring, and a pocket knife at the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, police were called to a 7-11 at N 125th St and Greenwood Ave N "that involved a gun and a vehicle [and suspect] description similar to that of the shooting call." Although the report does not contain details on the incident, Seattle police tell us this was a case of sexual assault. We're working to get more details and will update when we do.
