Sub Pop Offering $13,000 in College Scholarship Money

By Jonathan Cunningham April 12, 2010

Now here's the type of opportunity that I'd love to see more record companies offering -- especially those that are local. Several days ago, Sub Pop Records announced the details of their 2010 Loser Scholarship in which they are offering $13,000 in education dollars to graduating high school seniors. Three scholarship amounts of $6,000, $4,000, and $3,000 will be awarded to three lucky arts/music-minded students headed to an accredited university of college in the fall.

In order to qualify, students must reside in the state of Washington or Oregon. More details are below.

To apply for these scholarships we would like you to submit an essay, no longer than one page, letting us know about one or more of the following topics:
What are you doing in the arts/music field in your community?
How and/or why did you become interested in artistic outlets?
How would this scholarship money help you to progress in your chosen field?
What are your influences and/or who inspires you?
Who are some of your favorite bands or artists?

The deadline to apply for this scholarship is May 15. Spread the word. You can email submissions to [email protected] or mail them to:
