Police On the Lookout For Hungry, Hungry Burglars

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee April 8, 2010

Seattle police are looking for at least one burglar with a bad case of the munchies after two restaurants were targeted in late-night food heists in the last few weeks.

The first incident occurred at a Domino's Pizza at 73rd and 35th NE in Wedgwood. According to a police report, a burglar smashed a door and entered the restaurant sometime between 1:00am and 10:00am on March 31st. The burglar cut the locks on several employees' lockers—taking two iPods—and then then entered the store's walk-in freezer and took two cases of frozen chicken wings. According to the report, "nothing else appeared missing."

Employees told officers they had seen someone in a white Ford Expedition possibly casing the business several hours before they closed.

Police are also investigating another food-focused burglary in the 9100 block of California Ave SW in West Seattle. A report says a burglar broke into Tuxedos and Tennis Shoes Catering, cut the latch on a walk-in cooler and made off with a 15 pound box of corned beef hash and a case of eggs. According to the report, this was the third time the business has been burgled.
