Learn to Trust the Fizz: County Sales Tax Coming to Voters in August

This morning's Fizz reported that King County Executive Dow Constantine may announce today that sending a proposal for a sales tax increase to voters in August. The tax, likely a three-tenths of one percent increase, would help fund criminal justice services—cops, courts, public defenders.

King County elected officials will discuss an option for preserving current levels of public safety and health services at a news conference that will take place:

King County Executive Conference Room

Count spokesman Frank Abe tells PubliCola that at the conference, Constantine—along with council members and public safety officials—will announce that they support sending a proposal to voters to fund public safety.
