If Only Someone Would Put This Much Effort Into Finding My Stolen Stereo
Lakewood police apparently used "an entire police academy class, maintenance workers and three detectives" to track down a police officer's wallet, when an 18-year-old broke in to a police cruiser and stole the officer's badge, ID, and credit cards last February.
From the PI.Com:
In charging documents, King County prosecutors claim Adam D. Bierig forced his way into an unmarked Lakewood police cruiser parked at the state Criminal Justice Training Center at Burien. The break-in itself was simple enough -- prosecutors say Bierig spotted a wallet in the locked car, which he entered after forcing the window down far enough to reach the lock. He then fled, prosecutors say, with the Lakewood officer's badge, police ID and credit cards in hand.
On Feb. 17, five days after the break-in, police conducted an extensive search to try to find the wallet, King County Detective Ignacio Yanez told the court.
"With the assistance of an entire police academy class, maintenance workers and three detectives, the Lakewood police badge, credit cars and other wallet content belonging to (the officer) were located," Yanez said in court documents, adding that a police commission card was not recovered
