The Washington State Democrats just sent out a press release slamming the Republicans for stalling banking reform in D.C.

The tie-in for the state Democrats is this: Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), the chair of the National Senatorial Republican Campaign Committee, was one of the Republican leaders who met with big Wall Street bankers to coordinate opposition to the Democrats' bill.

Cornyn, of course, is the GOP leader who's been recruiting Dino Rossi to run against U.S. Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA).

And so, that leads the Democrats to this quote:
“No doubt Rossi’s experience in shady business deals would be an asset to Wall Street executives,” said Anne Martens, spokesperson for the Washington State Democrats, “but in this Washington, on our main streets, we don’t need any more financial games. Billionaire bankers can risk it all on Dino Rossi, but the people of Washington can’t afford it.”

Actually, in this Washington—as we highlighted yesterday—the Democratic majority in Olympia worked to protect big Wall Street banks.
