And Then There Were Ten

Seattle police chief candidate and current Des Moines Police Chief Judy Bradshaw has dropped out of the running for the Seattle job.

Bradshaw just released a statement—which was posted at the Des Moines Register—which really doesn't say a whole heckuva lot:

“After several days of contemplation, I have reconsidered my application for the Chief of Police position in Seattle, Washington.  There were several considerations that impacted my decision, but I have decided not to pursue this opportunity at this time.

“As a lifelong Iowa girl and a 30 year Des Moines Police Department employee, I discovered while considering the position in Seattle that it would be very difficult to leave.  I feel great affection for both the city of Des Moines and the Des Moines Police Department, and I am honored to serve as the Chief of Police.

“Seattle is a wonderful city, and I appreciated being considered as a semifinalist for this position.  I am confident they will find the right fit for them among the remaining field of candidates.”
