UW Husky Football Player Arrested For Assault

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee March 16, 2010

Exactly one week after the University of Washington Huskies suspended defensive end Andru Pulu, Pulu has surrendered to police and was booked into the King County Jail this morning for an alleged assault near the UW campus.

Pulu's arrest comes exactly one week after the Huskies suspended Pulu indefinitely for violating team rules. Although the school did not detail Pulu's rule violation, police sources indicate Pulu was under investigation for allegedly assaulting a man at a party in the University District.

According to a police report, on March 7th, officers were called to the UW Hospital where a man told officer he was trying to break up a fight at a party in the 5000 block of 15th Ave NE when Pulu punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The report says Pulu then stomped on the man's head.

The police report indicates the man sustained a broken nose and fractured cheek bone in the assault, and had a visible boot print on his left temple.

Pulu was booked shortly before 9:00 am this morning.

It appears Pulu has not yet been charged for the assault.
