The Morning Blotter: Suspect & Victim in MLK and Rainier Stabbing Were Jail Buddies
A police report on last week's stabbing at Martin Luther King jr Way and Rainier Ave S provides a somewhat confusing explanation for what led to the incident.
Police were called to MLK and Rainier at about 9:00 p.m. on February 25th and found the victim kneeling behind a Metro bus stop, holding his neck.
The man told police an associate—who he had previously met in jail—had walked up behind him and stabbed him in the neck.
The man then told officers the suspect stabbed him "because he was upset that he was buying his beer at the [corner store] located across the street from where this incident happened."
Unfortunately, the report doesn't explain exactly what that means. Was the suspect upset about the victim's choice of beer? Was this a territorial dispute? Or was the suspect just an overzealous AA counselor?
