By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee March 26, 2010

A Ravenna resident was attacked outside of his home last week by a self-proclaimed military man who was trying to hitch a ride to Stanwood, according to a police report.

Eighteen minutes after midnight on March 18th, the resident was sitting on his front porch on 55th and 16 AV NE with his housemates when another man—who, the report says, appeared "highly intoxicated"—approached them and introduced himself. The man told the victim he "was in the military and needed a ride to Stanwood."

The victim and his housemates refused to give the man a ride, and the man became angry and pulled  a five-inch knife from his pocket and tried to hold it to the victim's throat.

The victim rushed the knife-wielding man and knocked him to the ground, but the man began flailing and gashed the victim's forehead with his blade. The suspect then got up and fled east on NE 56th Street

Police arrived at the home and found the victim bleeding from a one-and-a-half inch cut on his forehead. The police report says it took 12 stitches to close the man's wound.

It appears police were unable to locate the suspect.
