Last Night

By Erica C. Barnett March 31, 2010

Last night at the Old Pequliar (1722 NW Market St.) in Ballard (charming service, so-so sandwiches and fried food), the special theme round was about Las Vegas, meaning that it was basically impossible for me—a non-gambler who's never set foot in Vegas, unless you count its capacious airport—to nail a single question. (They didn't even ask about the recently-bankrupted monorail! The nerve.) Sample annoyingly Vegas-specific question: Which of these three casinos (list of casinos, which I've already forgotten) is not owned by such-and-such family? YAWN.

Still, we came in second, netting us $5 apiece. If our team ever gets to pick a category (fourth-place finishers get the privilege), I'm going with either Latin (five years in high school and college, baby), transportation ("Name one street in Seattle that has been put on a 'road diet'") or local politics (name both openly gay members of the Seattle City Council.") Take that, Vegas!

Oh, and after trivia, we watched Lost, from which I expect I'll be suffering withdrawal when the series ends in May. Lost trivia—now that I could do.
