iPhone Robbery Watch 2010: Capitol Hill and West Seattle Edition

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee March 30, 2010

Yup. Criminals still want your iPhone.

A man reported he was mugged for his iPhone on the edge of Capitol Hill last week. According to a report, the man "who obviously had been drinking," told officers he was walking home from a club on Broadway when the two suspects approached him on Pine St. near the I-5 overpass. The two suspects jumped the man, knocked him to the ground, and stole his iPhone and $220.

Several days earlier, on March 22nd, a woman told police a man approached her at a bus stop in the 4300 block of SW Alaska St and asked her for the time. When the woman pulled out her iPhone to check, the man grabbed for her phone. The man and the woman struggled over the phone until the man was able to wrench it away and flee. Witnesses told police they saw the suspect meet up with another man as he ran from the scene.

Today's lesson: always carry a crappy old watch around with you to check the time at bus stops!
