Man Beaten At 143rd and Stone

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee March 1, 2010

Police and a number of medic units were called to 143rd and Stone Ave—right near the Seattle/Shoreline border—at about 1:00 a.m. this morning. We're told that call was for a fight. No word on injuries.

Police were looking for a gold Chevy Lumina with five passengers on board.

I'm a little groggy at this hour, but I think I heard the dispatcher ask if any gang units were on North Precinct radio. no idea if it's related or not.

We'll have more in the morning.

Update @ 1:35: Our pal Seattle Times photographer extraordinaire Cliff Despeaux is at the scene and just Tweeted that: "The victim was just taken into the medic unit enclosed in some kind of biohazard suit. Medics are wearing them too."

Update: Here's what SPD has to say:

On March 2nd, at approximately 12:50 AM, North Precinct officers responded to the 14300 Block of Stone Avenue North on a report of an assault and property damage. According to witnesses, the victim, a 41 year old male, was sitting in a parked car in front of a residence in that block when a car, possibly a gold Chevrolet Lumina pulled up with five white males inside. The suspects got out of the Lumina and began to smash the driver’s side window of the victim’s car, as well as the windshield and headlights. The suspects may have used a piece of metal rebar. The victim was struck in the head during the attack. The victim was able to get out of the car and make his way to his friend’s place, where the friend called 911. The suspects were gone by the time officers arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. This is an on-going investigation.
