Extra Fizz: Another City Finance Employee Leaves for King County

By Erica C. Barnett March 26, 2010

Tyler Running Deer, an assistant director at the city of Seattle's Department of Finance, sent out notice to colleagues this morning that he is leaving the city's budget office to become a budget supervisor at King County. Running Deer—who has not yet returned an email seeking comment—is following former city budget office director Dwight Dively to the county, where Dively now heads up the office of finance and budget.

After 16 years heading up the city's budget process under four mayors, Dively was relieved of his duties last year by then-mayor elect Mike McGinn, who appointed Beth Goldberg, former deputy budget director at King County, as head of the budget office.

Running Deer headed up environment and neighborhood services for the department.

The finance department also sent out notice this week that it's looking for a budget analyst specifically to work on public-safety budget issues. That individual would be the second person in the finance department focused exclusively on the police budget.
