By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee March 5, 2010

A police report released Thursday details an attempted armed robbery on a Metro bus in Lake City last week.

According to the report, the victim told police he got on the bus in Sand Point at about 10:20 a.m on February 28th.

When the bus approached Lake City Way and NE 125th, the suspect and another man got on and sat down next to the victim.

The suspect tried to strike up a conversation with the victim, who was listening to his iPod and ignored the man.

A few minutes later, the suspect started talking about the victim's iPod. "He told [the victim] that it was a nice Ipod, and that he should put it in his, (the suspect's) pocket," the report says.

The suspect then lifted up the front of his sweatshirt, revealing a handgun.

When the suspect's companion saw what was happening, he told the suspect to "put it away" and told the victim "the suspect was just drunk."

The suspect and his companion then got into an argument and the victim was able to sneak off the bus at the Northgate Transit Center and catch another bus home.
