DeadStation 3

By Sam Machkovech March 1, 2010

My take on the online-only PlayStation 3 game MAG, made by Redmond's Zipper Interactive, will have to wait until later this week. Same with any thoughts on the new, weird Sony movie-game, Heavy Rain
.

This morning, Sony put out a statement
asking users not to turn on their PlayStations for at least a day, lest they accidentally delete files such as game saves. Yikes. Turns out older models of the game system—over half the ones in the wild—have a leap year calendar bug (they think today's February 29), which means those PS3s cough up error messages while trying to load games, whether they try to go online or not. It's so bad, even people who make PlayStation video games can't turn their "debug" PS3 computers on.

Microsoft had a similar bug kabosh its older Zunes a little over a year ago, but at least MS's bug didn't accidentally delete MP3s.
