The Great Bellevue Light Rail Debate

By Chris Kissel February 10, 2010

1. There's a presentation and discussion tomorrow by Michael Hogan, King County's bias crimes prosecutor—he's in charge of investigating and prosecuting people who are arrested for committing a hate crime.

Hogan was in the news a bit a couple of years ago when stats on gay-bashings shot up (Hogan said more people had become willing to report the crimes).

There could be a "Law and Order" character based on  him.

Tomorrow at 6:30 pm, at Seattle Public Library Central Branch. Free.

2.
Seattle Transit Blog is having their meetup in Bellevue for the first time tomorrow night, as the great Bellevue light rail debate rages on. You don't have to be there right at 5 pm, but if you come later, STB hints that you might miss a Sound Transit board member or Bellevue City Councilmember or two.

Tomorrow at the Rock Bottom in Bellevue (550 106th Ave NE). At 5 pm.

3. The "Defriending Cancer" benefit event tomorrow night looks awesome. The name is sorta stupid, but it doesn't sound like it's any indication of the caliber of the performances—featured comedians include Tim Heidecker, of the confrontationally surreal and uncomfortably hilarious Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!
and Neil Hamburger, who's entirely confrontationally surreal.

There are also solo musical performances by James Mercer of the Shins and Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse. The famous comedians and the rock stars are performing to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Hamburger.

With Eugene Mirman. Tomorrow at 7:30 pm, at the Moore Theatre (1932 Second Ave), Tickets are $28–$48.

4. The Central Area Neighborhood Group is meeting up tomorrow night. The group includes neighborhood planning committees, non-profit community groups, and the local chamber of commerce.

On the agenda: An update from City Councilmember Sally Clark and a report from the Federal Census Bureau.

Tomorrow at 6 pm, at the Douglass Truth Library (2300 E. Yesler Way).
