Teen Robbed For iPod on Metro Bus
Yup. Another iPod/bus robbery. This time near Washington Middle School.
A police report says at about 12:30 p.m. on February 14th, a girl was riding the #48 with her friend and her mother, playing checkers on her iPod Touch. A boy from the girl's school ran past her on the bus, snatched her iPod, and hopped off the bus at 23rd and Jackson.
Police were able to identify the boy using a school yearbook—the report does not say which school the victim and suspect attend—and went to his Central District home. The report seems to indicate police are familiar with the boy.
Police arrived at the home and spoke with the boy's mother, who told officers her son "had just come home and that he was all sweaty and out of breath as if he had just been running."
Police took the boy into custody and put him in the back of a patrol car. While the boy was in the back of the car, the report says officers overheard the boy on his phone, telling someone "I jacked a [iPod] Touch" while on the #48 bus.
When police questioned the boy about the cell phone, he told officers he'd ditched the phone as soon as he'd gotten off the bus.
Police interviewed him and released him from the East Precinct.
