State Trooper Shot In Long Beach

Police are still looking for a man who opened fire on a state trooper near Long Beach, WA on Saturday. Trooper Scott Johnson was shot in the head, but survived the incident:

Johnson was shot shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday in the Pacific County coastal community of Long Beach, while inventorying the contents of a car that was about to be towed on Highway 103 near 12th Street.

A man walked up and a short conversation followed. As Johnson returned his attention to the car, the man fired two shots at the back of Johnson’s head, then fled the scene.

Johnson returned fire but it is not known if he hit the gunman, said Trooper Krista Hedstrom.

Investigators searched the area after the shooting but did not find the suspect.
