State Bill Would Prevent Alleged Rapists From Questioning Their Victims
After an accused rapist attempted to grill his victim in King County Superior Court last year, the state House has passed a bill that would protect victims from similar court room interrogations.

Months after a Green Lake rape survivor was grilled in court by her alleged attacker, legislation aimed at stopping similar interrogations is moving forward.
Voting last week, the state House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill that would allow judges to prevent those accused of sex offenses from questioning their alleged victims. Instead, court-appointed defense attorneys would conduct the interview on behalf of defendants representing themselves.
The initiative stems in part from a disturbing scene that played out at King County Superior Court, in which accused rapist Sankarandi Skanda repeatedly violated court orders while questioning the woman he was accused of raping.
