At about 4:35 a.m. Tuesday, a woman pulled up to the drive-through window with rap music blasting and pointed a rifle at a barista, said Pierce County Sheriff’s Detective Ed Troyer.
The woman yelled something and then threw the rifle at the barista butt-first, striking the employee in the chest before driving away, Troyer said.
The weapon turned out to be a toy. Another barista, who did not want her last name used, described her co-worker's reaction.“Just threw it right at her chest, and then just drove off.
So it was terrifying for her,” Rachel said.Troyer said it’s not known if the incident was a robbery attempt or related to the shootings last November.
