Department of Planning and Development director Diane Sugimura just confirmed, via press release, what PubliCola reported last week: Marshall Foster, previously head of waterfront planning for DPD, has been tapped by Mayor Mike McGinn to replace Ray Gastil as head of planning for the department.

Foster is currently working on a design framework to shape growth in South Lake Union. He's also a board member at Great City, a green-urbanist nonprofit founded by McGinn in 2006.
